Boundary Survey - A survey to establish property lines for a parcel of land as described in a deed.
This consists of researching deeds and surveys of record, searching for existing survey monuments, conducting a precise field survey, performing office computations, and placing of permanent survey markers at the location of the property corners.
A plat (map) is then produced from the field work and a legal description is written for the parcel.
An attorney will use this description to prepare the new deed.
