HURRICANE IDA RECOVERY If you are applying for licensure in Louisiana to assist in recovery efforts after Hurricane Ida, please add a comment to your application, under the "Employment" section. LAPELS presents a brand new online licensing system for processing online applications, renewals, and reinstatements for professionals, firms, and interns.
The system features many new exciting features designed to maximize the user experience and facilitate close-to real-time online communications between applicants/licensees and LAPELS staff members. LAPELS is open to the public. All visitors to this office will be required to wear a face mask for the duration of your visit. Disposable face masks are available at the LAPELS office.
Established in 1908, we're the second oldest licensing board of its kind in the country. One of our very own, Marcel Garsaud, a civil engineer from New Orleans, served as the first president of NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors). We are governed by Title 37 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes, and for over 100 years the LAPELS Board has worked to "safeguard life, health, and property and to promote the public welfare" - and we continue to do so today.
